The Sunshine Coast recently played host to the Pacific Championships. A major, 9-day event that welcomed football teams from across the country and overseas to our beautiful region to compete.
The Championships culminated with the 'State of Origin Cup 2024'. A tournament that brought together the State U14 boys and girls teams to compete against the Football Queensland regional academy bases, as well as State teams and selected clubs from interstate.
This was a perfect opportunity for Football Queensland coaches to work with these players ahead of important selections for U15 National Youth Championships next year.
Academy Head Coach, Jerrad Tyson, was fortunate to be called into camp with the U14 girls State teams and was honoured to be able to support the highly tallented group of goalkeepers during the tournamnet.
The Championships ended a great success for QLD with both U14 Maroon and Silver beating NSW opponents in their semi-finals (on penalties) to secure an all QLD final.
QLD Maroon the eventual winners!
Well done to all the girls who competed and represented the State with such pride.
